Stadtmuseum Düren
Düren
The 1250 years old city of Düren can proudly look back on its industrial past, with many enterprises still working worldwide until today.
The proverbial wealth of Düren’s entrepreneurial families Schoeller, Hoesch and others in the former “city of millionaires” established a rich patronage tradition with numerous cultural, social and educational institutions, which is portrayed by the exhibition “Düren’s Golden Years, 1871-1914”. The exhibition “Home Front” shown in parallel chronologically connects to this era and is dedicated to the effects of the 1st World War on the city of Düren which was near to the front. Since 2009 honorary workers have been runing the city museum. Lecture events, guided tours and excursions round off the vivid exhibition concept.
