Haus der Stadt

Düren

The auditorium at the Haus der Stadt Theatre boasts a large stage, state-of-the-art stage and lighting technology and excellent acoustics, making it the perfect setting for operas, operettas, ballets, plays and concerts. When the theatre was first opened back in 1991, the town’s theatre programme dating back almost a century could finally be extended and various season tickets were made available to future audience members. It’s no wonder that the Haus der Stadt Theatre became a popular choice amongst performers from all around the world looking for venues for guest appearances. Hosting no end of in-house productions, programmes for kids and teens and partnerships with associations and community groups active in the town, the theatre managed to hark back to Düren’s theatrical heyday, when the “Düren Play” at the Eberhard Hoesch Theatre, directed by Dr Erna Schiefenbusch between 1939 and 1944 before the theatre was destroyed in 1944, was considered a top insider tip on a national scale.

The programme currently features some 100 performances every year, including the “Cappella Villa Duria” concerts, the Chamber Concerts of the United Industrial Associations, many special musical and cabaret events and initiatives organised by local groups. The auditorium is a multi-functional space that can also be used as a ballroom or venue for exhibitions, markets and trade fairs.

Tickets for all performances are available from iPUNKT and the theatre’s box office.
